Help a Hunter: Chances of Recovery By RubsNScrapes.com

Shot a mature 10 pt with an arrow this evening. Thought I made a good shot but seems the arrow had little penetration (approx 6 to 8 inches). The buck dropped in its tracks, and hobbled off quickly before I could get another shot in him. He seemed to be dragging his legs a bit. I followed good blood sign for about 125 yards and bumped him bedded down. He only seemed to run a short distance and stopped. It being dark, I backed out. What are my chances of recovery and what should be my strategy.

Justin - Your chances for recovery sounds good. I would just go back in the morning with some help if available to pickup where you left off on the blood trail. Hopefully you will find him quickly.Good luck.
