Here is the buck I shot during the 2003 Wisconsin Gun Deer Season. I shot the buck on Tuesday at noon in Buffalo County. I was hunting on family land just south of Mondovi near Modena. Earlier that morning I had been sitting in a stand about 3/4 of a mile away and did not see or hear any deer.
At approximately 10:30 I made the decision to try a different stand for the afternoon. An hour and a half later, the buck came trotting through 50 yards away with its antlers glistening in the sun. I simply grabbed my gun and shot the buck in a matter of seconds. Even better was the fact that he dropped in his tracks and I could still see his antlers sticking out of the grass.
The buck has an inside spread of 23 1/3 inches and has 12 points with two additional sticker points. The Boone and Crockett net score was approximately 167 with several points of deduction for the split brow tines.
