After getting a once in a lifetime buck, you want to make sure that you capture the event with wonderful photos. Here are some of my tips.

1. Stay In the Woods - No one wants to see the back of your pickup.

2. Clean the Deer Off - Spend a few minutes to wipe the deer down and check that tongue. If at all possible, take the pictures before field dressing the animal.

3. Take More Than One Picture - Taking a full roll of pictures from different angles is a good way to make sure at least one turns out.

4. Take your pictures in the morning or late afternoon, the colors will turn out much better.

5. Hold the antlers away from your body. If you hold the antlers farther away from your body, they will look much bigger.

6. Get on the ground with the camera. The pictures will have much more life and feel if you don't tower over the deer.

So many people need to pay attention to this. Not only is it good for your memories, but it prevents those horrible pictures from fueling the antis.

let's face it... pictures of our quarry are hunting propaganda. there's no place for bloody pics so i ALWAYS photoshop the blood out of my pics before posting them on facebook, etc. it's just a matter of integrity and respect for the animals we seek after.
